Incident Summary:

08/21/2005: Taliban members shot and killed Mullah Abdullah Malang, Deputy Chief of the Panjwayee Ulema Council, in Afghanistan. One of Malang’s colleagues was killed in the attack as well. Taliban spokesman, Mufti Latifullah Hakimi, claimed responsibility for the assassination indicating that Malang was targeted for having been a supporter of the US backed Afghan government.
