Incident Summary:

08/30/2012: Approximately 30 assailants opened fire on a highway police checkpoint in Malasila village, Makilala municipality, North Cotabato, Philippines. Two police officers were killed and at least one injured in the assault. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, a source attributed it to the New People's Army (NPA).
