Incident Summary:
05/20/2013: A letter containing ricin was mailed to the Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, in New York City, United States. The letter caused no injuries as it was intercepted before it could reach Bloomberg. This was one of three related attacks targeting pro-gun control political and social figures on this day. The letter warned of future attacks if Bloomberg and other gun control advocates pursued legislation to limit gun ownership. Shannon Richardson, an American television actress, was arrested on June 7, 2013 in connection with the attack.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
