09/04/2014: Assailants kidnapped and killed a former election candidate in Zawiyah, Nineveh, Iraq. This was one of three similar attacks in the area on the same day. No group claimed responsibility for the incidents; however, sources attributed the attacks to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
