START is now accepting applications for the pilot program of its new Leiden-UMD dual Ph.D./graduate certificate program, a collaboration between  Leiden University in the Hague's Dual PhD Centre and the University of Maryland’s Graduate Certificate Program in Terrorism Analysis. Catered to the career trajectories of working professionals, the program is seeking candidates for Fall 2018 matriculation with a master’s degree, strong professional qualifications and an idea for research they would like to pursue.

Selected students will first complete four courses in START’s online and synchronous Graduate Certificate in Terrorism Analysis, which typically takes 12-24 months, and then will spend at least three years working on a dissertation under a committee of Leiden faculty members, joined by a START researcher.

Applications for the pilot cohort are due May 1. The experiences of students in this pilot cohort will be integral to shaping the program for future cohorts.
