START Welcomes New Advisory Board Member

START is pleased to announce the addition of William A. Anderson to the Advisory Board. Dr. Anderson is currently the Associate Executive Director in the Division of Earth and Life Studies, and Director of the Natural Disasters Roundtable at the National Academies/ National Research Council. During his expansive career, Dr. Anderson has had appointments with the World Bank, the National Science Foundation, the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the President, the U.S. State Department, and Arizona State University.

He is responsible for developing multidisciplinary natural hazards research programs and providing oversight for large-scale research activities at earthquake engineering centers and cooperative programs on wind engineering. At Ohio State University, where he received his Ph.D., Dr. Anderson was Field Director at the University's Disaster Research Center. Here, he directed teams conducting research on the impacts of natural and technological disasters in the United States and abroad.
