| Peykar was an anti-Shah, leftist offshoot of Mujahedin-e Khalq (MeK). The group was established in 1975 after many MeK leaders were imprisoned during Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi's crackdown on opposition groups in the tumultuous years preceding the 1979 Iranian revolution. Peykar was founded as a Marxist-Leninist group and added Maoist elements in 1978.

|
| Peykar achieved its primary goal of deposing the Shah, and although its secondary goal of deposing the Ayatollah was never realized, this organization can be considered inactive, as its members are assumed to have been reintegrated into the MeK or other anti-Ayatollah opposition groups in the early to mid-1980s. | |
