Incident Summary:

10/20/1970: Black militants set fire to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Building in Cairo, Illinois, United States. Firefighters were shot at by sniper fire coming from the nearby Pyramid Courts Housing Project and could not begin to put out the fire until the police secured the premises. There were no casualties but the building was destroyed at a cost of an estimated $60,000.
