Incident Summary:

02/01/1998: Sri Lankan troops beat back an assault by the Liberation Tamil Tigers if Eelam (LTTE), killing 300 guerrillas. Twenty soldiers were also killed and another 80 wounded in the five-hour battle near Kilinochchi, Sri Lanka, about 265 kilometers north of Colombo.
