Incident Summary:
05/21/1998: A bomb, believed to be planted by either the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) or the Army of National Liberation (ELN), exploded in front of retired General Harold Bedoya's political office in Barrancabermeja, Colombia. One person was injured and the facility was seriously damaged. Bedoya was a candidate in the elections held at the end of May 1998.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
