7/31/1998: Unknown perpetrators, believed to be affiliated with the Islamic insurgency in Algeria, kidnapped a child in Sidi M'Barek, Algeria. The assailants lured those searching for the child to the entrance of the city's cemetery and detonated a bomb. Three Algerian civilians were killed in the blast. The fate of the child remains unknown.
