Incident Summary:

07/29/1999: Mr. Neelan Thiruchelvam, a member of the Sri Lankan Parliament, known for his moderate views and human rights activities, was killed by a suicide bombing in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It was suspected that the bomber was a member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). Two others were also injured in the attack.
