Incident Summary:

08/15/1999: Unidentified Islamic militants killed twenty-nine people and injured three overnight at Beni Ounif, in the Bechar region of Algeria. The victims were stopped on the road between Bechar and Beni Ounif. Twenty-three had their throats slashed and the other six were shot dead while trying to escape.
