08/28/1999: A Scottish oil worker, who was working for the US/UK-owned British Petroleum Amoco Corporation, was kidnapped near Yopal, Colombia. The Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) and the National Liberation Army (NLA) were suspected, although they never claimed credit for the incident. The fate of the hostage was not known.
