5/30/2000: A bomb exploded in the lobby of the Champa Hotel in Pakse, southern Laos. Approximately ten people were injured in the explosion, but there are no reports of casualties. There is increasing speculation that the bombing, which is just one in a series of bombings, is an attempt by dissatisfied government employees to discredit the current leadership.

The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators.
