1/16/2001: A bomb exploded outside the office of the ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in Chake Chake, Pemba Southern region, Tanzania. No one was hurt in the explosion; however, a vehicle was damaged. Authorities believe the attack was perpetrated by the Civic United Front (CUF), the opposition party in Zanzibar.
