Incident Summary:

2/8/2001: Members of the Forces for the Defense of Democracy (FDD) raided a refugee transit center near Kigoma, Kigoma region, Tanzania. The Burundian rebels killed one man and abducted 36 others. 24 of the abductees managed to escape and return to the refugee center. They told the police that the rebels' intention was to force the captives to join the rebels in fighting the Burundian government.
