Incident Summary:

2/21/2001: Unidentified gunmen opened fire on Lizeth Perez, the daughter of retired General Otto Perez Molina, as she drove out of her home in Guatemala City, Guatemala Department, Guatemala. Lizeth Perez was shot five times; however, she was listed as stable after undergoing surgery. Assailants also attacked General Molina's wife on the same day in a separate incident. General Molina was known for being openly critical of the government and had recently declared that he was going to form his own political party. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
