Incident Summary:

06/26/2001: A dynamite attack staged by suspected guerrillas of the 10th Front of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC)on an electric tower in Cano La Pava, at Kilometer 89 of the Cano Limon-Covenas pipeline in Arauca Department, Colombia, left 250,000 residents of Arauca Department (the municipalities of Arauca, Arauquita, Saravena, Tame, Puerto Rondon, Fortul, and Cravo Norte) without electricity. The explosion melted the cables between Towers 286 and 287 of the 230-kw line, which is part of the national network between the Los Palos station in Bucaramanga and Arauca.
