9/12/2004: A suicide bomber was shot and killed just west of Baghdad, Baghdad province, Iraq. The assailant was attempting to drive a vehicle laden with explosives into Abu Ghraib prison. Tawhid and Jihad claimed responsibility for the incident. This incident occurred at the same time that other sites around Baghdad were being targeted, including Haifa Street and the Green Zone.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
Criterion 2
There must be evidence of an intention to coerce, intimidate, or convey some other message to a larger audience (or audiences) than the immediate victims. Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
