Additional Information Euskadi ta Askatasuna (ETA) had killed over 800 people since 1968 in their armed struggle for independence at the time of the bombings. The group gave advanced warning of the impending attack via the Basque Newspaper, Gara. ETA had conducted a series of bombings in seven cities earlier that week on November 29, 2004.
