Incident Summary:

08/08/2005: Alaa al-Tamimi, the mayor of Baghdad, was ousted by armed Shi i militants when they stormed the city's municipal building. The group installed, Hussein al-Tahaan, a member of the Badr Organization, the armed militia of the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq. Al-Tamimi was unharmed in the coup.
