Incident Summary:

01/30/2006: Dal Bahadur Rai, a candidate for mayor of the Katmandu suburb of Patan, was shot and injured by two unidentified youths on the first day of Nepal’s elections. The victim was in his house in Katmandu at the time of the attack. Maoist rebels in Nepal had threatened to disrupt the vote, but there were no reported claims of responsibility for the attack.
