Incident Summary:

08/25/2006: A breakaway Karuna faction of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) planted a bomb on the motorcycle of an LTTE chief and blew it up at an LTTE checkpoint in Batticaloa, a city in Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province. Six Tigers were killed, but it was not known if the chief was killed as well. Reports did not state whether there was a claim of responsibility.
