Incident Summary:

08/29/2006: The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) attacked a convoy of 11 trucks carrying supplies to uncleared areas with mortars at the Omanthai entry-exit checkpoint in Omanthai, Sri Lanka, around 10:20am. There were also approximately 150 civilians in the vicinity of the checkpoint at the time of the attack. No one was injured and no damages were reported, but security forces in the area did retaliate after the incident. The checkpoint and the A-9 highway were closed after the attack.
