Incident Summary:

03/23/2007: While taking off from Mogadishu, Somalia, a Transaviaexpoert Ilyushin -76 cargo plane was shot down by a missile. The plane had carried equipment for African Union peacekeepers who were working in Mogadishu. Somali officials deny the missile accusation saying it was a freak accident. No group claimed responsibility.
