Incident Summary:
08/26/2008: On Tuesday, at about 1030, in Jalula', Diyala, Iraq, a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device near a police station in the northeastern Hay al-Shuhadah neighborhood, killing 25 people, including five police officers, wounding 40 people, including three Iraqi soldiers, and damaging the police station. Most of the civilian casualties were police recruits waiting to join. No motive was reported and no group claimed responsibility, although it was widely believed the Islamic State of Iraq was responsible.
