Incident Summary:

03/31/2009: On Tuesday night, Communist Party of India- Maoist militants fired upon and killed a village chief, Bedanath Singh, by unknown means in Langalakanta village in Sundargarh, Orissa, India. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Singh did not attend a meeting called by the Maoists, which is allegedly why he was shot and killed.
