Incident Summary:

03/30/2010: On Tuesday night, in East Singhbhum, Jharkhand, India, assailants fired upon and killed a local leader of the Congress Party, Gobardhan Mahali. According to police, around six to 25 assailants raided Mahali's house in Maacchbhandhar village and took him towards the jungle area at gunpoint and then shot him three times in the head. No group claimed responsibility, although it was widely believed a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-M) faction was responsible. The Maoists had earlier warned that it would kill Congress leaders if the operation is not stopped against them.
