Incident Summary:

03/01/2012: Assailants shot and killed four police officers on a patrol boat on the Nembe River, Bayelsa state, Nigeria. This was one of two related attacks targeting security forces in Bayelsa on this day. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) claimed responsibility for the incident, stating that they are at war with Nigeria's police force and will accordingly attack whenever the opportunity presents itself.
