Incident Summary:
08/06/2013: Assailants shot at a military helicopter in Wadi Abida area, Marib governorate, Yemen. The helicopter, which was protecting workers fixing an oil pipeline, crashed. Eight soldiers were killed in the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the same assailants who had initially blown up the pipeline on August 4, 2013.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
