08/17/2013: Gunmen attacked a checkpoint near Homs city, Homs governorate, Syria. The checkpoint was being manned by the National Defence Force, a Christian, pro-government militia. At least 11 people, including five militia fighters and at least six civilians, were killed, and an unknown number of people were wounded. No group claimed responsibility for the incident.
