Incident Summary:

10/21/2013: A landmine detonated targeting a Philippine Army 38th Infantry Battalion convoy in Tulunan town, North Cotabato province, Philippines. Following the explosion, approximately 50 assailants opened fire on the soldiers. At least eight soldiers were killed and at least one other was injured in the attack. This was one of two related attacks in the area on the same day. The second incident occurred as military personnel were responding to this first attack. No group claimed responsibility for the attacks; however, military officials attributed them to the New People's Army (NPA).
