11/17/2013: Assailants opened fire on the vehicle of Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Mabrouk Abu Khatab outside of his residence in Cairo city, Cairo governorate, Egypt. Khatab, a security official with the National Security Agency (NSA), was killed in the attack. Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis (Ansar Jerusalem) claimed responsibility for the incident, stating that the attack was in response to the detention of female protesters.
