Incident Summary:
11/19/2013: Assailants attacked a police station in Beledweyne city, Hiiraan region, Somalia. The attack began with a suicide bomber detonating an explosives-laden vehicle at the gate of the police station; assailants then entered the police station grounds and opened fire with automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades. Eleven police officers and seven civilians were killed; additionally, ten assailants, including two suicide bombers were killed in the attack. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the incident.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
