Incident Summary:

05/01/2014: An explosive device detonated on a train at the station in Chennai, Tamil Nadu state, India. This was one of two attacks in Chennai targeting trains on the same day. At least one person was killed and 14 others were wounded across both blasts. The Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) claimed responsibility for the incidents and stated that the attack was carried out in revenge for the removal of members of the Muslim community from the targeted train in 2012. However, authorities suspected that the attacks may have been carried out by the Indian Mujahideen.
