Incident Summary:
09/11/2015: Assailants fired mortars that landed and detonated in Duwaila neighborhood, Damascus city, Damascus governorate, Syria. At least 11 people were killed and 20 others were injured in the attack. This was one of five projectile incidents in Damascus on the same day. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attacks to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators.
