01/01/2016: Assailants opened fire on residents in Abbasiya, South Kordofan, Sudan. At least six people were killed and 22 others were injured, including five who were sexually assaulted, in the attack that lasted until January 3, 2016. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the incident to the Janjaweed.
