04/15/2016: Assailants hijacked two Indonesian vessels from Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi, Philippines. One sailor was injured and four sailors were abducted in the attack. The four hostages were released on May 11, 2016. No group claimed responsibility for the attack; however, sources attributed the incident to the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).

Criteria 1

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
