05/29/2016: Assailants opened fire on Abd al-Khaliq Salih Ali al-Mashali in Al-Hawtah, Shabwah, Yemen. Al-Mashali, the security campaign's deputy commander, was killed in the assault. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources suspected that Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) carried out the attack.
