07/31/2016: Assailants set fire to a construction site for the Dakota Access pipeline near Oskaloosa, Iowa, United States. There were no casualties in the attack. This was one of three related arson attacks on construction equipment for the pipeline in two days. No group claimed responsibility for the incidents.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
