09/19/2016: Assailants abducted three foreign workers, including two Italians and one Canadian in Ghat, Libya. The hostages were released on November 5, 2016. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources suspected the involvement of Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). In addition, sources suspected the involvement of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS).
