Incident Summary:

11/08/2016: Assailants attacked Bani Bangou town in Tillaberi, Niger. At least seven people, including five soldiers and two assailants, were killed and three soldiers were injured in the ensuing clash. Additionally, four soldiers were abducted. One of the hostages was released on February 8, 2017 while the fate of the other three soldiers is unknown. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the incident to the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) and the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO).
