11/24/2016: A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle targeting buses carrying pilgrims in Shomali, Babil, Iraq. In addition to the assailant, at least 97 people were killed and 20 people were injured in the blast. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the incident.
