12/22/2016: Assailants and suicide bombers attacked military forces in Mithaq, Mosul, Nineveh, Iraq. This was one of four coordinated attacks in the area on the same day. Security forces repelled the assaults, killing 12 assailants. No group claimed responsibility for the incidents; however, sources attributed the attacks to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
