Incident Summary:

01/13/2017: Assailant armed with projectiles and firearms attacked Nigerian Army (NA) soldiers in Kangarwa, Borno, Nigeria. At least 13 people, including three soldiers and 10 assailants, were killed and 27 other soldiers and an unknown number of assailants were injured in the ensuing clash. The Al-Barnawi faction of Boko Haram, also known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), claimed responsibility for the incident.
