Incident Summary:

01/29/2017: Assailants threw a hand grenade and opened fire on a police checkpoint in Shali, Chechnya, Russia. Three assailants and two police officers were killed and two civilians were injured in the ensuing clash. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Caucasus Province of the Islamic State.
