Incident Summary:
02/04/2017: An explosive device detonated in Duga-a, Basilan, Philippines. At least one Philippine Army (PA) First Scout Ranger Regiment soldier was injured in the blast. This was one of two similar attacks in Duga-a on the same day. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the incidents to the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
