03/15/2017: Assailants abducted Yuri Katherine Higuera Quintero, an engineer, in Tibu district, Norte de Santander, Colombia. Quintero was released on March 27, 2017. The Popular Liberation Army (EPL) claimed responsibility for the incident and demanded to be recognized by the Colombian national government as a guerrilla fighting force and be included in peace processes.
