Incident Summary:

03/19/2017: Assailants attacked Samad military base in Khorma, Uruzgan, Afghanistan. At least 11 assailants and 12 soldiers were killed in the attack and ensuing clash. In addition, at least 17 soldiers were taken hostage in the attack. Five of the hostages were killed while the whereabouts of the remaining victims are unknown. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.
